HORNET STUDENT-ATHLETES POST RECORD-BREAKING NUMBERS IN THE CLASSROOM

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State student-athletes posted record breaking numbers in the classroom during the spring semester, highlighted by the department posting a school-record 3.394 term GPA.

All 21 intercollegiate programs on campus posted a 3.158 term GPA or better, and 79% of Hornet student-athletes had a 3.00 term GPA or higher. Of those 319 student-athletes with a 3.0 or better, 62 posted a 4.00 GPA during the spring, and 152 had between a 3.500 and 3.999 GPA.

The athletics department now has an overall GPA of 3.187 (also a school record), and this marks the 10th consecutive semester of achieving a 3.00 term grade point average or better. Prior to the streak of 10 straight semesters, the department had never posted a term GPA above a 2.99.

All but one of Sacramento State's athletics programs have an overall GPA of 3.0 or better, and the one program that did not reach that mark isn't far off - Football has a 2.949 overall GPA.

Based on campus policy, 99% of Hornet student-athletes are in good standing academically. As a whole, Sacramento State student-athletes outperformed the general student body in both term and overall GPA.
