WOMEN'S SOCCER'S TIFFANY MIRAS AWARDED SACRAMENTO STATE'S CLUTCH PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR

Women's soccer's Tiffany Miras has been awarded the Sacramento State Clutch Performance of the Year award after helping the Hornets to a 1-0 win over Northern Arizona at the Big Sky Tournament…with the clock winding down in a scoreless regulation contest against third-seeded Northern Arizona, it was the head of Miras that sealed one of the Hornets' biggest wins of the 2021 season…sent home a cross from teammate Ele Avery to lift sixth-seeded Sacramento State to a 1-0 win over the Lumberjacks…it was Miras' first goal of the season…the victory advanced the Hornets to the conference tournament semifinals for the second time in the last three seasons and their first trip since 2019.

OTHER NOMINEES

Josiah Erickson (Football) - Leading, 28-21, at fifth-ranked Montana, the Hornet defense was tested as the Griz took over near midfield after stopping Sacramento State…after a first down incompletion, Montana picked up two yards on a pass play…Erickson followed with a third-down sack for a loss of eight yards (his second sack of the game), and Killian Rosko delivered the knockout blow with a fourth-down sack to give the Hornets their first road win at Montana in school history…Erickson finished the game with eight tackles (seven solo), two sacks and a forced fumble.

Gymnastics Floor Team - All six gymnasts in the Sacramento State floor lineup set career bests to spark the team to a 194.225-194.000 come-from-behind victory over Air Force at the Nest…trailing by .350 after three rotations, the Hornets scored 49.225 on floor in the final rotation while the Falcons totaled 48.650 on beam…the team's floor total was tied for the eighth best in school history and the best in six years…the Hornets were led by a 9.925 from Emma Morgenthaler to win the event and a 9.900 from Amber Koeth.

Grace McSkimming (Women's Tennis) -  It was a tall task facing Big Sky Conference co-leader Weber State, but the Hornets pulled out a 4-3 win at home after freshman Grace McSkimming won her match at No. 6…she fell in the first set, 6-4, but evened things up with a 6-4 win in the second frame…with the team score tied at 3-3, McSkimming posted a 6-4 win in the third set to clinch the match as Weber State's final shot went wide, sending the Hornets out to mob McSkimming at the baseline and hand the Wildcats their first — and only — conference loss of the season.

Titus Washington (Men's Soccer) - Put home one of the more crucial goals of the season for the Hornets with two minutes remaining in the first golden goal overtime against conference rival UC San Diego, out-muscling his defender and burying a right-footed shot from a close angle for the 2-1 win over the Tritons…the all-Big West Conference honorable mention selection finished second on the team with eight points on two goals and four assists, but it was this score that helped the Hornets clinch three crucial points and stay alive for a Big West Tournament berth.
