BASKETBALL’S LIANNA TILLMAN NAMED SACRAMENTO STATE’S FEMALE STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Basketball's Lianna Tillman has been named Sacramento State's Female Student-Athlete of the Year…became first player in Hornet women's basketball history to win Big Sky Conference MVP honors…led the league in both scoring (20.3 ppg) and assists (6.2 apg)…was one of just three NCAA Division I women to average at least 18 points and six assists per game during the season…ranked among the top 20 in the NCAA in assists per game (19th), assists (9th), field goals made (14th), minutes (18th) and scoring average (16th)…finished the year with 16 games of 20-plus points, and had 26 double-digit scoring performances…her 591 points rank second in Sacramento State single-season history.

Marissa Bertuccio (Softball) - A third team all-Pacific Region and first team all-conference selection, and the Big Sky Pitcher of the Year…concluded the season with a 21-10 record and 2.38 ERA while limiting the opposition to a .236 batting average…had 21 complete games, eight shutouts, two saves and 168 strikeouts in 194.1 innings…led the Big Sky in wins, shutouts, complete games and innings…a five-time Big Sky Pitcher of the Week selection…19th in the nation in shutouts, 24th in innings pitched, and 26th in wins…her 21 victories are tied for the second best single-season mark in Sacramento State's Div. I era (1990-pres.).
 
Jennifer Koga (Golf) - Earned both Big Sky Conference Player of the Year and first team all-league honors for the second consecutive season…led the team with an average of 73.21 in 29 rounds which ranks third in school history…placed second at the Big Sky Championship for her highest finish after shooting 68-76-72-216…had eight top 20 finishes, including a school-record six top 10s during the year…her eight top 20 finishes are tied for the second most by a Hornet in a single season…led Sacramento State in seven of 10 tournaments to set the program record for a single season…had 11 rounds at or below par which is tied for fourth in school history.
 
Shantel Nnaji (Track & Field) - Advanced to the NCAA West Preliminary in the hammer…earned all-Big Sky honors in the shot put (second), discus (second) and hammer (third)…set the school record in the hammer with a throw of 191-06 to win the Sacramento State Invitational…ranks second in school history in the discus following a throw of 167-11 at the Bryan Clay Invitational…had a shot put of 49-04.25 at the Big Sky Championships which moved her to fifth place all-time at Sacramento State…indoors, she was all-Big Sky in the shot put after finishing third, and added a fourth-place finish in the weight throw.
 
Bridgette Smith (Volleyball) - A first team all-Big Sky Conference selection after starting all 28 matches…a full-rotation outside hitter, the sophomore became the first Hornet underclassman to be named first team all-Big Sky since 2005…averaged 3.43 kills, 2.58 digs, 0.35 aces, 0.35 blocks and 4.00 points per set…easily led the Hornets in kills…in Big Sky play, she led the conference with an average of 3.73 kills per set…posted double figures in kills on 21 occasions, double-digit digs 15 times, and registered 10 double-doubles…had double figures in kills in 14 of the 17 matches the Hornets played against a Big Sky opponent.
