Big Sky All-Conference Team
SACRAMENTO — Eight Sacramento State softball players received all-Big Sky Conference recognition, including two first teamers, a pair of second teamers, and four honorable mention selections.
Among those first team selections was the conference's pitcher of the year in junior Marissa Bertuccio. She was joined on the first team by third baseman Lewa Day. The Hornet second team selections were designated player Lexie Webb and right fielder Carley Morfey, and the honorable mention choices were catcher Amber Rodriguez, first baseman Alondra Mejia, second baseman Gwen Ludwig and utility player Caroline Evans.
Bertuccio becomes the fourth Hornet to be named Big Sky Pitcher of the Year, as she joins Savanna Corr (2019), Celina Matthias (2018, 2016), and Caitlin Brooks (2015, 2014). In addition, a Sacramento State pitcher has now won the award six times in the nine years of Big Sky softball.
The Hornets (28-23, 12-6) finished the regular season in a tie for second place, and will assume the No. 2 seed at this week's Big Sky Tournament in Ogden, Utah. Sacramento State, recipient of a first round bye, will play in the second round on Wednesday at 4 p.m. PDT against the winner of the No. 3 Portland State/No. 6 Montana game. The tournament is double elimination, and the tournament home page can be found by clicking here.
