  • MEN AND WOMEN IN SECOND PLACE; PETERSON WINS WEIGHT THROW AT BIG SKY INDOORS

    The second day of the Big Sky Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships began with three career highs from Sacramento State in the heptathlon and ended with 14 other school top 10 marks, including an individual champion. Those performances have both the men’s and women’s team in second place heading into the final day on Saturday.

    A day after setting two top five marks in school history, three Sacramento State athletes moved into the top 10 with their performances during the final day of the Husky Classic. Along with the three top 10 marks, the Hornets also set eight careers bests on Saturday.

    The Sacramento State men’s and women’s track & field teams will make its second trip to Seattle this season as the team will compete in a pair of meets over a three-day stretch. The competitions begin with the Husky Classic on Friday and Saturday and wrap up with the UW Open on Sunday.

    The Sacramento State track & field teams took home half of the Big Sky Conference weekly awards as Jah Strange was named the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week and Danielle Brandon earned the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced today.

    Eight school all-time top10 marks and 26 season improvements helped the Sacramento State track & field teams get off to a great start during the opening day of the New Mexico Classic on Friday night. The invitational is one of the largest meets the Hornets will compete in this season and features teams from throughout the country including several ranked in the top 25.

  • WAGNER LEADS TRACK & FIELD IN FINAL DAY OF UW INVITATIONAL

    It didn’t take Frederick Wagner V long to find his way into the Sacramento State record book. The JC transfer scored 4,674 points at the UW Invitational in his first heptathlon with the Hornets to move into sixth place in school history. Wagner’s total placed him seventh at the meet and was the highest total among NCAA Div. I athletes. Andrew Stich finished in 11th place with a 4,345 points.

    Emilia Del Hoyo tied for eighth place and Sareena Patzke recorded the ninth-best score in school history during the pentathlon at the UW Invitational on Friday. Frederick Wagner V and Andrew Stich also competed in the opening day of the pentathlon at the meet.

    Sacramento State may have been the one of the last teams in the country to start its indoor season but the Hornets showed no effects from the long layoff, winning nine events and recording 44 top five finishes at the Bronco Invitational on Saturday at Boise State.

    The Sacramento State indoor track & field team will compete for the first time this season when it takes part in the Bronco Invitational hosted by Boise State on Saturday. The meet will begin at 7 a.m. PT with the men’s high jump and concludes at 3:15 p.m. with the men’s 4x400 relay.
  • CARBULLIDO LEADS TRIO AT POLE VAULT SUMMIT

    Three members of the Sacramento State track & field team started the indoor season by competing at the Pole Vault Summit on Saturday at the Reno Livestock Events Center. The Hornets were led by senior Haley Ann Carbullido who cleared 11-11.75 to place eighth in the collegiate competition.
  • WOMEN PICKED SECOND, MEN THIRD IN BIG SKY PREASEASON INDOOR POLL

    The Sacramento State men's and women's indoor track & field teams are still two weeks away from the official start to their season but were both selected to finish among the top three in the Big Sky Conference Preseason Indoor Track & Field poll, it was announced today. The Hornet women were selected to finish second while the men were tabbed to finish third in a vote of the league's head coaches.
  • GOLD EDGES GREEN IN ANNUAL PRESEASON MEET

    The Sacramento State men’s and women’s track and field teams set several meet records in the annual Green vs. Gold Meet last week. The Gold team prevailed with a 181-177 victory, sealing the competition in the women’s pole vault on the final day.

  • TRACK & FIELD SIGNS FOUR STUDENT-ATHLETES TO NATIONAL LETTERS OF INTENT

    The Sacramento State track and field/cross team announced the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. All four will enroll at the University in the fall of 2018 as freshman according to head coach Jeff Magley. The quartet is comprised of cross country/distance runners Blayney Dolan, Santiago Ruiz and Abraham Maldonado as well as jumper Jade Cany.
  • TRACK & FIELD/CROSS COUNTRY TAKES PART IN PAIR OF COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS

    The Sacramento State men’s and women’s track and field teams participated in two community service projects this month. The team was involved in the Great American River Parkway Clean-Up and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. These two events are just the latest outreach project for the team who also assist annually with the Super Bowl Run on campus and the California International Marathon.
