ALBANO, PETERSON SET TOP FIVE SCHOOL MARKS AT HUSKY CLASSIC

SEATTLE — The Sacramento State track & field teams started a busy weekend with a pair of school top five performances during the first day of the Husky Classic on Friday.

Gracie Albano ran the third fastest 5K in school history and had the best time by a Hornet in the event since 2013. Prior to tonight, Albano had never run the 5K indoors but the Nipomo, Calif., native produced a time of 17:32.68. That mark was significantly better than her outdoor best of 18:31.59 in the event.

Kyle Peterson continued his climb up the school top 10 this season in the weight throw. He moved into seventh place last week with a throw of 60-01.75 and blew past that distance after throwing 61-11.00 to finish fifth on Friday. That distance is the fifth best all-time by a Hornet.

Carly Schulz led Sacramento State in the women's 200 during the day with a time of 25.18. The men were paced by Clinton Spellman in the 200 (22.29) and Tyler Sickler in the 5K (15:01.94).
